If you love your dogs as much as we do, chances are you want to give them treats from time to time. And while your dog may love store bought treats, like the tasty blueberry and peanut butter DOGSBARS you get from The Dog Bakery, there’s a lot to be said for putting in a little extra work to make a special treat for your dog yourself. If you want a chance to show your dog just how much you care about him or her, try this homemade dry dog food recipe for puppy muddy buddies.
Puppy Muddy Buddies Recipe
Unlike regular muddy buddies (for humans), which are usually sweet, this recipe is full of the savory flavors that dogs love best. Pour a stick of melted butter into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan and stir in half a cup of Kraft Grated American Cheese Food Powder, half a cup of bacon bits, and two teaspoons of dry gravy mix. Add two cups of Cheerios, two cups of spoon size shredded wheat, and two cups of Chex cereal, stirring until all the cereal is coated in the cheese, bacon, and butter mixture. Bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes, stirring every fifteen minutes. Once the puppy muddy buddies come out of the oven, toss with your dog’s favorite treats, like DOGSTREATS chicken flavor, and store in an air tight container for the perfect homemade dry dog food treat.
